LONDON WINTER WALK HALF MARATHON 2025
Thursday 27th February, 2025
Katie Helliar (Commercial Administrator), her mum Vicky, and her boyfriend Matt participated in the London Winter Walk Half Marathon on January 25th, 2025. They successfully raised £2,975 for the Alzheimer's Society. Braving the chilly winter weather, they walked from the Oval Cricket Ground to Rotherhithe, and back past Parliament to generate funds and awareness for dementia research and care.
Tragically, Vicky's dad (Katie's grandad), Peter Hunter, passed away in November following a long struggle with dementia. Peter was an exceptional athlete in his younger days, having participated in the London Marathon and numerous other events. It was only fitting that they raised funds through an activity he loved, and Vicky proudly followed in her father's footsteps, completing the walk in just 3 hours. Well done, Vicky!
Thanks to the kindness of friends and family, the team surpassed their fundraising goal. By supporting the Alzheimer's Society, we contribute to vital research aimed at understanding, preventing, and curing the disease. The donations also help fund programs and services that offer transformative support for individuals with dementia and their caregivers, including helplines, support groups, and practical assistance with daily needs.
Congratulations to Katie, Vicky, and Matt!
